geotubes

geotube is a generic term made up of the Greek word “Geo” meaning earth and "tube" or "tubo." The dictionary describes geo as a compound word used in the formulation of compound generic words.

Geosynthetics is the broad category or genus to which geotubes (as well as many other things of other sorts) belong. The term geotube as all terms within that category can be specified by the distinct features (the differentia) that set each apart from the other.

geotube according to popular use is a synthetic geotextile used for many applications including but not limited to: containment, dewatering, erosion control, sludge containment, filtration, and barrier creation.

Bradley geotubes come in five basic variations as Flexible Containers: Potable Water Storage - Liquid Transport - Oil Spill Containment - Sludge Dewatering - Designed Structures.

Potable Water Storage-

The "Helical Rib" Design allows flexible tanks to be manufactured using the highest strength woven synthetic materials to support and protect the inside water bladder.

These containers can be easily transported when rolled up on a core and shipped to the desired location for use as temporary water supply tanks.

Liquid Transport-

Spiral® geotubes are designed to transport liquids, especially fresh potable water. When acting as a vessel the container facilitates the movement of millions of gallons of liquid when floating under tow over water.

After finishing the destination and unloading procedure, the water containers can be rolled up and returned at little expense to be maintained for use again.

Bradley provides two basic types of geotubes with variations determined by the specific need of each customer and application. Spiral® geotubes created with a “Helical Rib” design provides "four times the fabric strength” of a standard geotube.

These tubes are also available in earth tones, our Earthtone® geotubes are coated and colored with an industrial coating that provides additional UV stability to the life of the geotube. As well, Earthtone®geotubes can be created specifically to blend with their surroundings enhancing the aesthetic quality of the project while improving its longevity!

Some of the unique benefits found in the Bradley line of geotubes include:

  • Reinforcing ribs assure maximum tube profile can be obtained
  • Complete filling is now possible even when dredged fill is interrupted
  • Spiral® geotubes can be re-inflated after initial fill consolidates
  • Filling method allows tube footprint to be changed if necessary
  • Various coatings available for enhanced durability and aesthetics
  • LINK/JOINT® A patented method that allows tubes to be joined together for continuous lengths
  • Fewer inlets/outlets are required, and are easily sealed after filling
